A 33-year-old Madison man was one of three people arrested last week for allegedly stealing copper cables from AT&T utility poles.

Chance Joiner was arrested by the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and Cyber Crime Unit and charged with one count of felony grand larceny. Also arrested were Jon-Phillips Cote, 25, and Cynthia Ford, 45, both of Jackson. 

According to a release from AG Jim Hood, the stolen copper represented a loss of over $225,000 to AT&T. 

The three suspects face a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty.
