A Florence man wanted on domestic violence charges in Ridgeland has been picked up by U.S. Marshals in Louisiana where he had family.

Paul Bogan Vaughn, 28, of Florence has been taken into custody by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Lt. Brian Myers of the Ridgeland Police Department said that he was located at a relative’s home in Hammond. He is being held by the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Department and is awaiting an extradition hearing, Myers reported Tuesday.

Vaughn is wanted on a warrant for charges of Aggravated Domestic Violence in relation to an incident in Ridgeland that occurred on Nov. 20.

Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal said that on Tuesday, November 20, at approximately 2 a.m., the Ridgeland Police Department was dispatched to the area of East County Line Road near the Jackson Hilton on a report of an injured female lying in the middle of the road.

Upon officers’ arrival, they encountered a 24-year-old female who had sustained major injuries to her body. Neal said an investigation by the officers on scene determined the female was the victim of a domestic violence event which began at the Rodeway Inn located at 832 East County Line Road.

He went on to report that according to statements from the victim, she and her ex-boyfriend had engaged in an argument in the parking lot of Rodeway Inn which escalated to her being dragged through the parking lot as the male subject drove the vehicle.

The suspect had pinned the victim's arm in the door of the vehicle as he drove away and eventually opened the door releasing her. The victim was reported to have been run over by the vehicle as well.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified by the victim as Vaughn.
