With their annual charity event on the horizon, the Canton Lions Club is gearing up and still accepting donations.

Canton Lions Club Vice President Mark Hopkins said that they are still accepting donations for their live auction, sponsorships and ads in their auction program for their annual barbecue.
“All support is greatly appreciated,” Hopkins said. “Your generosity will help the Canton Lions Club continue their vital work in the coming year.”

Donations can be products or services from businesses.

Hopkins said they expect approximately 300 supporters at the event slated for this Friday, April 26, at the Canton National Guard Armory.

Hopkins said their service projects extends both locally and globally.

Their causes include furthering education and providing disaster relief. Another key cause is combating eye diseases and creating infrastructure to improve eye care delivery, increasing the number of trained eye care professionals and making vision care more equitable and sustainable.

Hopkins said that locally the Canton Lions have purchased eye testing machines for use by local opticians for performing eye exams for children in elementary schools.
