Ridgeland Police have made an arrest in an armed robbery earlier this week at the Family Dollar on East County Line Road.

Ridgeland Police Department Lieutenant Brian Myers said that RPD received a 9-1-1 call on Tuesday (April 02) at 1:38 p.m. from the Family Dollar on East County Line Road in reference to an armed robbery that had just taken place.

“We have made an arrest in the Family Dollar Robbery case,” he said Thursday.

Daquarius Derrell Wright, 18, of 821 highway 51 in Batesville was apprehended after detectives from the Ridgeland Police Department located a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle they had on video leaving the Family Dollar just after the Armed Robbery occurred. Wright is charged with armed robbery.

The vehicle was located at a residence on Auburn Drive in Jackson. Myers said Wright was apprehended with assistance from the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

Ridgeland Police were asking for help in identifying Wright using security footage from the scene.

Myers said the suspect brandished a weapon to the clerk at the front of the store and demanded money after making a purchase.

Wright left the scene, with an undisclosed amount of cash. Myers reported that no one was injured in this crime.

Myers said that Wright matched the given description of a black male, appearing to be in his 20’s. He was wearing a dark ball cap and grey hooded jacket, with a bushy hairstyle described as a “man bun” or “ponytail” exiting the opening in the rear of the ball cap.
