RIDGELAND — Police are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred on Monday.

The first robbery occurred at the Game Stop on County Line Road, which authorities connected to a vehicle theft in Jackson.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 40-year-old  Jermaine McClure of Jackson.

Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal said that his department received a report of an armed robbery at the County Line Road GameStop located on Monday at approximately 5:30 p.m.

He said that gaming consoles, game controllers and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken in the incident.

The suspect fled the scene in a stolen blue Dodge minivan bearing Louisiana plates. This vehicle was later recovered in Ridgeland after being abandoned by the suspect.
“The van which was stolen and used in this crime has been recovered,” Neal said.

The van was stolen from midtown Jackson Monday morning.

No one was injured during the incident he said.

At least two suspects were caught on camera. Neal said they received a Crime Stoppers tip that led to the identity of McClure.

Another robbery occurred less than four hours later at the Valero gas station on Highway 51.

Neal said at approximately 9 p.m., the department was notified via 9-1-1 of an armed robbery having just occurred at Cappy’s Valero convenience store located at 400 US Highway 51.

“Officers responded and met with the store clerk who advised he was cleaning the store when a lone suspect entered the store and displayed a firearm demanding the register be opened,” Neal said.

Officials do not believe the two incidents to be connected at this time.

Anyone with information on either of these robberies is asked to contact the Ridgeland Police Department at 601-856-2121 or the local Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
