Knives are an essential part of all of our lives. From cutting the New York Strip steak you ate last night to cutting open the package you got in the mail last week, they have many uses and are for more than just eating food.

Burke Knives, established in 2005, is an institution that makes top quality knives and other tactical equipment. Located in Flora, it is a hidden gem in the area.

Jim Burke made his first knife back in 1989 when he was just 15 years old. It was a rather simple design, as it was just a straight blade. He kept making knives on and off for the next few years, but when he got into law enforcement, he  — with the help of his father — made his first official knife design and high quality knife.

“The number one utility folder was born.” Burke said. “I ended up making them for fellow officers and friends for nothing more than material fees.”

Aside from an extensive law enforcement career in Fugitive Apprehension, SWAT, among others things, he is an avid outdoorsman and hunter, realizing the importance of a good blade when out and about in the wilderness. With this background in mind, Burke had the opportunity to use his blades in a plethora of environments across the world. And for this reason, he makes the promise of his products lasting a lifetime and being there for whatever task you need done

“[Burke Knives] can bring you tools that will work for you to save your life or just open your lunch.” he said.

But the things he promises about his products aren’t just skin deep. It is reflected through positive feedback from his customers, which consists of soldiers, police officers, everyday people, and collectors alike.

“Bought a rebel slip joint and it is so beautiful and functional. Small but built like a tank. Love it!” Vincent Zen said, who bought his knife about a year ago.

“Well worth the money and wait. Buy anything from Burke Knives and you won’t regret it. Jim is a top notch man making top quality knives.” says Rubie Gray. She also recommended his place of business on facebook.
