  • Madison County was recognized for its workforce development achievements over the past year at the ACT Workforce Summit in Charlotte, N.C. last month, along with 48 other participating ACT Work Ready Communities. 
  • RIDGELAND – St. Andrew’s Episcopal School has been named one of Newsweek’s Top 500 STEM High Schools in America. Newsweek, with its long history of reporting on scientific breakthroughs, technological revolutions and societal challenges, partnered with to rank America’s best STEM high schools. Their findings highlighted the schools throughout the country that offer challenging curricula taught by skilled teachers who keep up with current developments and trends in their fields of study and create dynamic learning environments that engage their students. The announcement was made to coincide with National STEM Day, November 8.
    The Harry Potter Film Concert Series returns to Thalia Mara Hall with Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsTM in Concert, the second film in the Harry Potter series. On Feb. 29, The Mississippi Orchestra will perform John Williams’ unforgettable score live from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen.   • Chisholm joins Michael Baker International
    Richard Chisolm, P.E., has joined Michael Baker’s Ridgeland team as Construction Services Manager. Richard recently retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), where he served in a variety of roles including, Assistant Chief Engineer – Field Operations and State Construction Engineer. 
  • MSU students win first place in business competition
    Mississippi State University won first place in the 4th annual SEC Student Pitch Competition, held this year at the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University earlier this month.

    Lane Martin is now “always ready, always there” as he became an Army National Guard Private over the summer. Martin attended basic training at Fort Benning in Fort Benning, GA for seventy-two days.
