Attar named Young Optometrist of the South

Roya Attar, OD, MBA, FAAO, an Assistant Professor and Director of Optometric Services at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has been named the 2020 Young Optometrist of the South by the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry International. The award is presented annually to an optometrist in the southeast who has been practicing for 10 years or less to recognize significant contributions to the profession of optometry and the general public.

Dr. Attar of Madison received her Doctorate of Optometry at the Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2013.
"I am beyond grateful to be selected as the recipient of this remarkable honor. I have always believed that being an active member of my profession and community leads to being a better physician and citizen. I am especially grateful to the board and staff of the Mississippi Optometric Association for welcoming me and allowing me to get involved and participate on multiple levels as well as my distinguished colleagues for honoring me with this momentous nomination."
