Carlton Lee O’Keefe, 94, passed away at home on August 29, 2022. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Jackson, Mississippi to Maurice and Grace O’Keefe. 

He started working at the age of 12 at a drug store making deliveries until World War 2 started and he was moved up to the soda fountain.  He attended Central High School and then graduated from Mississippi State University in 1952, following a two-year tour of duty with the Navy from 1946 to 1948.

He was the employee benefits division manager for the Aetna Jackson office for 32 years. Carlton also simultaneously worked for the family business, Southwest Drugs, until he sold it in the late 80’s. 

He was a longtime member of Madison United Methodist Church.

Carlton is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Thomas O’Keefe; daughter, Carly O’Keefe Quinn (David); son, Gannon O’Keefe (Torri); granddaughter, Savannah Quinn; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John O’Keefe, Frank O’Keefe, Milton O’Keefe, and Kathryn O’Keefe Adams. 

The family would like to thank Mississippi Home Care and Baptist Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment took place at Parkway Memorial Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
