RIDGELAND — County Line Road is getting a  Chipotle, “one of the hottest fast-food restaurants in the country,” city officials say.

Public Works Director Alan Hart presented drawings for a Chipotle at 836 County Line Road to aldermen at their regular April 19 meeting.

The restaurant will go where the old Shrimp Basket building is next to the Circle K convenience store in the northwest corner of Ridgewood Road.

Hart said they plan to tear down the building and build a new 2,148 square foot structure in its spot.

“This will be a nice addition for the city on County Line Road,” Hart said. “Chipotle is one of the hottest fast-food restaurants in the country.”

The national fast-casual chain is known for Tex Mex-style food that includes burritos, bowls and salads.

The project is being developed by Aileron Ridgeland LLC. The designs presented to the board were produced by Dungan Design Group out of Overland Park Kansas.

Hart said the restaurant will feature a drive-through feature, though customers will not be able to order at a window. The drive-through will accommodate parking for customers ordering on the restaurant’s app.

Mayor Gene McGee said McAlister’s Deli in town uses a similar system and “it works really well.”

The site will feature 34 vehicle parking spaces. Hart said the restaurant will promote the take-out model but will feature indoor and outdoor seating.

Both the site plans and a conditional use permit for the drive-through were approved unanimously by aldermen on the consent agenda.
