County to barricade section of Bozeman

County to barricade section of Bozeman

A section of Bozeman Road will be barricaded in the future to stop a resident from parking commercial equipment on the public road.

District 2 Supervisor Trey Baxter told fellow supervisors Monday that a dump truck operator continues to operate a business in a residential area and as a result dump trucks have gotten stuck in the ditches off Bozeman Road. As a result, traffic jams have backed up roads throughout the area.

The property, owned by Teddy Lee, is located at 559 Bozeman Road. Lee owns an asphalt company based in Brandon.

In April 2018, supervisors ordered Lee to stop operating the business there because it was in violation of the county’s zoning ordinance.

Lee argued at the time that the equipment was there to maintain his 12-acre property and wasn’t used for commercial purposes.

Planning and Zoning Director Scott Weeks said on Monday that the matter was still under pending litigation.

Baxter made a motion to have Board Attorney Mike Espy verify it was still a county road before erecting barricades to block it off.

The motion passed unanimously.
