Madison County recorded 71 new COVID-19 cases and one new death in the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Wednesday, Dec. 1, COVID-19 report.

For the last two weeks, new cases totaled around 40.

Madison County has recorded a total of 14,939 COVID-19 cases and 283 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020, according to MSDH.

As of Dec. 1, Madison County continues to have one of the state’s highest vaccination rates, with 68,431 or 64% of people having received one dose of a vaccine and 62,386 or 59% of people having received two doses.

Vaccines are currently being administered at Walgreens, Walmart, Kroger and CVS locations in Madison County.

Madison County Schools reported five total active district cases for the week of Nov. 29.  The school district recorded 21 people quarantining.

Statewide, since the pandemic began in March 2020, 294,438 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded by the MSDH along with 220,201 probable cases, totaling 514,639 cases. There have been 6,887 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, along with 3,400 probable deaths, totaling 10,287 deaths.
