Drug trafficker sentenced to 10 years
A Jackson man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole for trafficking fentanyl pills in Madison County.
Tony Levon Hill, 40, pleaded guilty in Madison County Circuit Court to one count of sale and one count of trafficking fentanyl, District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett said in a statement.
“If you are caught selling fentanyl, or any drugs in Madison or Rankin counties, know you will go to prison,” Bramlett said. “If you have a loved one struggling with drug addiction, especially with fentanyl, please urge them to get help before it is too late.”
Hill was arrested following a joint investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police and Ridgeland Police, who were working together as part of a fentanyl task force targeting local dealers.
“I want to commend the cooperative efforts of the various law enforcement agencies who worked together to help stop the flood of fentanyl pills into Madison and Rankin counties,” Bramlett said. “These officers intervened so that the drugs being sold by Mr. Hill would not ultimately end up in the hands of our citizens.”
Investigators used a confidential informant to make multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl pills from Hill while he was working at a nursing home in Madison County. The drug sales occurred on the facility’s grounds during his shifts, Bramlett said.
On Sept. 7, 2023, officers stopped Hill during a traffic stop in Ridgeland and found him in possession of 60 fentanyl pills — a quantity considered trafficking under Mississippi law.
“This drug continues to be deadly, and people continue to seek it out knowing of its dangers,” Bramlett said.
