Fairfield burglars arrested in Georgia
MADISON — Three Colombian men and a woman from New York suspected of burglarizing a home in Fairfield were arrested in Georgia last month.
The suspects were identified as Jhojan Nicolas Rodriguez, 27, Brayan Fernando Cruz-Montanez, 34, and Fabio Alexander Chisco-Aldana, 41, all of Colombia, and Tifanny Londono, 30, of Flushing, New York, Madison police Lieutenant Micah Taylor said.
All four suspects are being charged with burglary of a dwelling and conspiracy to commit a crime, Taylor said.
They will be housed at the Madison County Detention Center as they await their initial appearance in the City of Madison Municipal Court.
Taylor said all four suspect’s cases would be presented to to a Madison County grand jury before District Attorney John “Bubba” Bramlett.
Taylor thanked the police department in Georgia for their assistance in arresting the four suspects.
“The Madison Police Department would like to thank the Ellijay Police Department for their commitment to justice as this case reached beyond state lines,” Taylor said. “We would like to also express a job well done to the citizens for speaking up and being aware of their surroundings as this case is an example of true teamwork between the officers and the community we serve.”
On March 17, after 5 p.m., the Madison Police Department received a 911 call from Fairfield about a house burglary where jewelry and cash were taken, Taylor said.
“Through the course of the investigation and a collaborative effort between all divisions of the Madison Police Department and local residents, we were able to identify several suspect vehicles that were involved in the crime,” Taylor said.
The next day, investigators were notified that one of the suspect vehicles was in the area of Ellijay, Ga. Taylor said the Ellijay Police Department was notified and officers later located the vehicle.
Officers with the Ellijay Police Department were then able to make contact with four suspects and the vehicle and all four suspects were then detained, Taylor said. Investigators with MPD then traveled to Georgia where they executed several search warrants with officers of the EPD and evidence of the crime was located.
After all four suspects waived extradition, Taylor said last week and they were transported back to Mississippi where they are currently being held.
