Gardner attends Boys Nation
Lindan Garner, a Jackson Prep senior, recently returned from Boys Nation in Washington DC. Lindan was elected by his peers at Boys State to represent Mississippi.
Two finalists were selected from each state to represent his state at Boys Nation — a civic leadership program hosting the top 100 young men in the country. Boys Nation includes a week of a mock U.S. Senate, composed of all the Boys Nation delegates.
Throughout the week, the Boys Nation Senators visited historical landmarks in the DC area including Fort McHenry, The White House, and the U. S. Capitol. While touring the Senate and House offices, Garner recalls meeting Senator and former Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, as well as Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith. Through his experience at Boys Nation, Garner said, “It was the honor of a lifetime to represent Mississippi at Boys Nation.
I was thrilled to share the stage with the future leaders of this country, and I will continue to do my part in service to my school, state, and nation.” Lindan Garner resides in Madison County and is the son of Ashley Chappelear and Jarrad Garner.
