RIDGELAND — Cat lovers will soon have a special place to board their feline friends when the cats can’t travel with them — Hotel Meow.

Jim Beckham of Madison plans to open Hotel Meow at 608 Highway 51 early next month.

“I love animals, and I see them as a lifetime commitment,” Beckham said. “I am very compassionate about them, and that’s part of the reason I wanted to create this business.”

Beckham said he plans for Hotel Meow to be a safe and secure hotel designed for cats only without the stress of dogs or other animals kept nearby.

Beckham said he was inspired to create Hotel Meow after boarding his cats at a place that kept them in cages where they could hear barking dogs.

Beckham said construction began on the facility about six weeks ago.

“There will be TVs throughout the building tuned to cat channels, and we will also be spraying cat pheromones to help all the cats relax when they’re with us,” Beckham said. “We’ll have 20 individual suites, and one suite is large enough to hold two cats.”

Beckham said boarding would cost $24 a night per cat, and each cat must be up to date on all vaccinations.

Hotel Meow is located at 608 Highway 51 North, next to Affordable Mattress. For more information, call 601-790-2287.
