Jag alum kicks during Egg Bowl

During last week’s Egg Bowl, Mississippi State got on the board first with a field goal in the first quarter. Minutes later, Ole Miss reciprocated with a 25-yard field goal by Patrick Cale Nation, a Madison Central graduate.

In addition to that first field goal, Nation, a sophomore, also kicked all four extra points in the Rebels’ 31-21 win over the Bulldogs.

Madison Central Head Football Coach Toby Collums, who has been at Madison Central for one season, said that while he did not coach Nation, it is always good to see a player from Madison Central do great things.

“It’s pretty cool that Cale went to Madison Central, and the fact that he went on to represent this school as he did is a very special moment,” said Madison Central Head Football Coach Toby Collums. “He went in and kicked that field goal in a tough spot. We’re all proud.”

Other players for Ole Miss who are from the Madison area include freshman Fred McAfee, a graduate from Germantown High School, and Freshman Rayf Vinson, a graduate from Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
