PR chapter honors Madison resident as outstanding professional

JACKSON, Miss. - February 16, 2021 - The Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) Central Chapter awarded accolades in a recent chapter meeting to its 2020 Outstanding Professionals and an exceptional volunteer board member.

Robyn Kennebrew, a Ridgeland resident, accepted the 2020 Outstanding Practitioner award. Morgan Stewart, a resident of Jackson, accepted the 2020 Emerging Practitioner award.

Sophie McNeil Wolf, a Jackson resident, accepted the chapter President’s award.

“The outstanding professionals awards program is designed to honor and recognize exceptional work among chapter members. Recipients embody the highest degree of professionalism, serve their communities, craft outstanding work in the practice of public relations, and exhibit a commitment to advancing the PR profession,” said Bonnie Jackson, at-large PRAM board member and 2020 awards chair.

Kennebrew serves as the development coordinator for Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project and chief operating officer of The Bean Path – a newer nonprofit. She spearheads MVLP’s legal clinic in conjunction with public relations, grant writing and fundraising. Her recent work to strategically increase MVLP’s media appearances brought in more volunteers, clients and donations; one commending the organization’s service innovation during the pandemic was particularly significant. In the last year, Kennebrew also has offered her expertise to small businesses through two workshops free of charge.

Stewart serves Mississippi Department of Human Services as creative director. In her work with the agency since 2016, her accomplishments include establishing the department and advising eight programmatic divisions and four support divisions. Stewart, in addition to stellar use of Adobe Creative Cloud’s software array, collaborates in the creation and execution of communication plans and emergency communication plans. Her latest project is MDHS’ rebrand initiative which will inform the overall agency perception as well as a new website.

Nominees are evaluated based on exhibited excellence in four areas. Certifications, awards, promotions, raises and other professional recognitions are categorized as outstanding achievements. On the job creativity and resourcefulness are evaluated by overcoming obstacles, innovative use of resources and greatest accomplishments. Professional development, specifically in the areas of service to the public relations profession and related associations, are also considered alongside community service.

“The President’s award spotlights a volunteer board member who demonstrates a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to serve exemplarily in their own role as well as to use their time and talents in assisting other board members for a seamless member experience,” said Mary Margaret Busby, accredited in public relations and outgoing chapter president who chose the 2020 recipient.

Wolf serves as the digital media manager for Mississippi Institutions for Higher Learning and served the chapter membership as vice-president of communication for 2020. In a year with an excess of challenges, Wolf’s efforts went above and beyond the regular duties and simplified the efforts of other board members creating a year of increased membership for an organization that traditionally flourishes on face-to-face gatherings.

PRAM Central, the largest of nine local chapters geographically located throughout the state, was founded in 1956 and is the top public relations professionals’ source for networking, continuing education and professional development throughout central Miss. Its membership consists of over 150 public relations professionals from advertising and public relations agencies, corporations and nonprofit organizations, government, education and industrial entities, as well as students studying to become public relations professionals. The chapter is an autonomous affiliate of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM State).
