Madison County added to mandatory mask order

Madison is among seven new counties requiring a face covering and social gatherings until Nov. 11.

The seven new counties are: Benton, Carroll, Harrison, Jones, Leake, Madison and Marshall.

Previously-announced counties are: Chickasaw, Claiborne, DeSoto, Forrest, Itawamba, Jackson, Lamar, Lee and Neshoba.

In these counties, face coverings are required while indoors and interacting with the public without social distancing.

Indoor social gatherings should be limited to groups of 10. Outdoor social gathering should be limited to groups of 50.

The order also encourages voters, poll workers and watchers to wear face coverings on Election Day.

This order goes into effect at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28 and expires at 8 a.m. on Nov. 11.
