MADISON — Liberty Park will be the place to celebrate July 4th again with fireworks and food trucks.

Don’t go to the park on Sunday, July 4, though, because the fireworks show will be on Monday, July 5 at 9 p.m. Food trucks will be at the park beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Vendors  include Burgers & Blues, Hog Heaven BBQ, One Guy Steak and Chicken, Pizza Shack and Snow Critters. And there may also be a dessert truck, officials said.

The city chose to celebrate on Monday, July 5 because July 4 falls on a Sunday, a day of rest and prayer, said Parks and Recreation Director Nathan Hanson.

“This year is a little different due to the fourth being on Sunday,” Hanson said. “We felt that having the show the day after would make things easier for everyone.”

The Madison Mayor and Board of Aldermen last week accepted a $12,000 bid from PyroMania Fireworks of Louisiana to present the fireworks show.

“We’re happy to have this event up and running this year since we couldn’t do it last year due to the pandemic,” Hanson said.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating the birth of this country.”

The best viewing area is in Liberty Park, Hanson said. “The playground and activity fields will be open and we hope everyone comes out,” he said.

The fireworks show will take place at Liberty Park, 100 Liberty Park Drive. Contact Madison City Hall at (601) 856-7116 for more information.
