Medical helicopter crash with fatalities investigated in Madison County
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of a medical helicopter crash with fatalities confirmed just south of the Natchez Trace where the Pearl River enters the Ross Barnett Reservoir, MCSO spokesman Heath Hall said
The scene of the crash is reported to be “a heavily wooded area south of the Natchez Trace and North of Pipeline Road,” Hall said. He said the SO was called to the scene around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, March 10.
Fatalities have been confirmed but further information will have to come from the Federal Aviation Administration, Hall said.
“We are now awaiting the arrival from the FAA,” Hall said. “Any other information should come from them.”
According to flightradar24.com the aircraft was a University of Mississippi Medical Center AirCare helicopter operated by Med-Trans and coming for Aberdeen.
