MADISON — The pilot of a small plane that made an emergency landing on Madison Avenue last Thursday evening cited engine trouble as the reason.

“There was no damage to property and no injuries reported,” MPD Captain Kevin Newman said.

The plane was safely towed later that evening to the Madison Airport, Newman said.

“Any other information related to inspection of the aircraft or cause would have to be released by the FAA,” he said. The FAA had not released any details as of Wednesday.

The call came in at 7:34 p.m., when witnesses reported that a small plane had landed on Madison Avenue near the intersection of Rice Road, Newman said.

MPD as well as the Madison Fire Department responded to the call and found that a Cessna 150F aircraft had in fact landed safely on the roadway, Newman said.

“The pilot of the aircraft reported engine trouble which resulted in the impromptu landing,” He said

The aircraft was then moved to the side of the roadway although one travel lane was partially blocked near the intersection for some time. Arrangements were then made with the consultation of the FAA to relocate the aircraft, officials said.
