Shots fired into vehicle on the Highland Colony seriously wounding man
RIDGELAND — A 30-year-old man was out of surgery Friday afternoon and believed to be in stable condition after multiple shots were fired into a vehicle on the Highland Colony Parkway late Thursday afternoon, the authorities said.
There are no suspects, Ridgeland Police said, in the incident that apparently left the injured man in a ditch on the side of I-55 southbound at the Natchez Trace.
Two vehicles were headed north on the Parkway, possibly from Walk-On’s sports bar, when a suspect or suspects opened fire, Lt. Brian Myers of RPD told WLBT.
“Multiple shots fired on Highland Colony Parkway into a vehicle,” Myers told the Journal in a text message.
The shooting occurred at about 4:20 p.m. and snarled traffic in south Madison County during the afternoon rush. Ridgeland has a camera system and footage is being reviewed, officials said.
There were at least two people in the victim's vehicle, police said.
A portion of the Highland Colony at Old Agency Road was closed.
