TCA alum to play in Superbowl
Tri-County Academy football alum Swayze Bozeman will make history on February 9th, becoming the first former player in program history to play in a Super Bowl.
Bozeman, a rookie linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster late in the season after impressing the organization as the season went along.
He first became a member of the active roster for the two-time defending Super Bowl champions since a December 8th matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and has played in four games since then.
Bozeman’s best performance of the season so far came in the Chiefs' Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he totalled a career-high three total tackles. He also picked up a tackle in the AFC championship game on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
After starring at both running back and linebacker for Tri-County Academy during his high school career, Bozeman began his collegiate career at Co-Lin Community College, before becoming a standout at linebacker at Southern Miss in his final years of college football.
Bozeman went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, but has still been able to carve out a spot on the roster for one of the league’s best franchises and most talented defenses.
The Flora native will now shift his focus to New Orleans for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kickoff for Super Bowl LIX is set for February 9th at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at 5:30 PM and will be televised on FOX.
