On Tuesday, October 10, The Mississippi Bar held the 95th Annual Memorial Service before the Mississippi Supreme Court in the Chambers of the Supreme Court building in Jackson. Family and friends were invited to attend in person or virtually. Attorneys and judges memorialized included Burke C. Murphy of Canton; Richard C. The Madison County Business League & Foundation and MCEDA Announce the 2023-2024 Madison County Youth Leadership (MCYL) Class. All public, private, and parochial schools in Madison County, plus Jackson Academy and Jackson Prep, select one junior to represent their respective school in the program. All students are Madison County residents.
A $12 million parking garage was just completed on the Belhaven University campus. The new five-story parking complex is now open, solving the University’s parking challenges and providing ample parking spaces. The garage was constructed over the existing parking lot between Heidelberg Gymnasium and Dr. Billy Kim International Center. Access is from the two university entrances off Peachtree Street, with one entrance putting drivers at the lowest level of the garage and the other higher in the garage.
A Madison resident has received statewide and regional recognition for her work in the field of public relations. Jan Schaefer, who serves as Director of Communications for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, was awarded top honors for social media management and social media writing by the Southern Publication Relations Federation, comprised of public relations practitioners from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.
