Angelos enjoy crawfish boils

For four years, Ryan and Arin Angelo have been hosting a regular crawfish boil Thursday through Sunday at Bayou Bugs in Gluckstadt.

“Getting to do that every day is just awesome,” Ryan said. “Oh, I’m just going to throw another crawfish boil.”

Previous to the Angelos’ involvement, Bayou Bugs had been operating for about three years right next to Ryan’s family’s Italian restaurant Angelo’s, which Ryan and Arin help manage. When the opportunity to to buy it presented itself, Ryan said he and his wife jumped a the opportunity.

“I had always enjoyed crawfish boils growing up,” Ryan said. “There was a point where I was getting a sack every other weekend and had developed a pretty nice recipe.”

Arin said the place has been a great place to do something they love and share it with members of the community.

“The atmosphere is great and our employees are great,” She said. “it is just like having a boil at your house. We have a good time and everyone enjoys themselves.”

Anyone who has had the craving knows crawfish have been hard to find this year. Ryan said he was driving to meet suppliers for fewer than 10 sacks of crawfish before Super Bowl Sunday. 

“It has leveled out,” Ryan said.

To join the party join the Angelos at 134 Weisenberger Road Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. until they run out of crawfish.
