Bond denied for man accused of killing wife

CANTON – A man accused of murdering his wife last month remains in custody after he was denied bond during his initial appearance in Canton Municipal Court last week.

The man, Myles Flint Johnson, 52, of Canton was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, 53-year-old Kristi Johnson, the authorities said.

Johnson had his initial appearance in front of a judge last Wednesday, Feb. 7, where he was denied bond, according to Canton Police Chief Otha Brown.

Police were called to the Johnson residence on East Fulton Street on Tuesday, Jan 30, at about 10 a.m. 

Investigators found Krisit Johnson lying on a bed with a single gunshot wound to the back.

According to Brown, the coroner’s office was then called to the scene and Krsiti Johnson was pronounced dead. 

Brown said a statement from the coroner’s office suggested Kristi Johnson had been lying there for some time, leading investigators to believe the actual shooting occurred sometime Monday.

Brown said Myles Johnson made the emergency call that led police to the residence and confessed to shooting his wife during a domestic dispute.
