Legislature honors Madison Central Tennis
The Madison Central 2023-2024 "Jags" Varsity Tennis Team, Head Coach Brad Boteler, and assistant coaches David Boteler and Seth Male, were honored on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, with a Mississippi Senate Proclamation for winning the MHSAA 2024, 7A State Championship, and for their impressive series of wins across the years, being named state champions the last five years and seven out of the last eight years, and for being runner-up in 2018.
Senator Walter Michel and Representative Jill Ford presented the document on behalf of the team, to Boteler.
Brad Boteler was named Mississippi Association of Coaches "Coach of the Year" and NFHS Southern Region "Coach of the Year."
He has also been named MHSAA "Coach of the Year.” The team won 6A State Championships in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2017 and 2016.
The Madison Central High School 2023-2024 Varsity Tennis Team Roster is: Khalid Alhalteh, Will Brown, Forrest Carson, Evans Henderson, Philip LeRoux, Mark Little, Harrison Lowe, Taylor Parker, Ben Ramsey, Patrick Royals, Preston Royals, Reese Touchet, Spencer Wheatley, Audrey Adams, Jianna Brown, Katie Farthing, Mary Claire Henderson, Kennedy Hutto, Emily Jia, Cella McKay, Claire McNeese, Mary Dogan Neely, Kristen Norris, Kate Price, Caroline Touchet, Marianna Wright; and Head Coach Brad Boteler; Assistant Coaches, David Boteler, Seth Male, and Lexie Morgan; and Athletic Director Toby Collums; and Assistant Athletic Director, Celeste Bramlett. In addition to winning the 2024 State Championship, Kennedy Hutto won 7A Girls Singles, Taylor Parker won 7A Boys Singles, Harrison Lowe and Wes Noland won 7A Boys Doubles, and Patrick Royals and Philip LeRoux were 7A Boys Doubles Runners-Up. The Madison Central Boys Tennis Team won the 2024 prestigous McGill-Toolen Invitational with 64 Teams for the 3rd year in a row.
The Girls' team followed their 2023 Runner-Up finish with a 3rd-place finish in the same tournament.
