Man charged with uttering forgery

GLUCKSATDT- A Jackson man was arrested for attempting to pass a fake tax return at a bank here last week.

The man has been identified as Glen K. Wiggins, 22, of Jackson according to a release from Gluckstadt Police.

Wiggins has been charged with felony uttering a forgery. 

Wiggins attempted to pass a fake tax return check from the United States Treasury at the Magnolia Federal Credit Union, 1770 Highway 51 on Oct. 12, Gluckstadt Police said.

The Gluckstadt Police Department was then notified later on Thursday, Oct. 19, around lunchtime. The check was in the amount of $11,050, a felony.

“A follow-up investigation led by officers and detectives a short time later led to the identification of the suspect above,” the release states. 

At approximately 3:45 p.m. GPD was notified by workers from the Magnolia Federal Credit Union located at 240 Briawood Drive in Jackson that Wiggins was inside the bank speaking with a representative. 

GPD officers coordinated with the Jackson Police Department to effect an arrest on Wiggins. He was taken into custody at 4:08 p.m. 

Wiggins was subsequently transported to the Madison County Detention Center and was issued a bond in the amount of $50,000. GPD Chief Barry Hale said Wiggins posted bond the same day.
