Mary Virginia Nichols Phillips departed this life on June 15, 2022. Mary Virginia was born September 1, 1926 to Thomas Vernon Nichols and Virginia McKie Nichols in Canton, Mississippi. 

She was a graduate of Canton High School and University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She graduated with a BA degree in English. Mary Virginia and Logan were founding members of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Jackson where they were very active members. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Member of the Altar Guild, Lay Eucharistic Minister, served on the Vestry and was a Member of the Daughters of the King. She and Logan both made their Cursillo. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Logan B. Phillips; grandson, William “Nichols” Phillips, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Janice Phillips; and brother, Thomas Vernon Nichols, Jr. She is survived by her children, Logan B. Phillips, Jr. (Claire), William N. Phillips (Beverly), Virginia P. Primos (Don) and Vernon L. Phillips (Denise); her grandchildren, Logan B. Phillips, III, Meg Reeves (Len), S. Mason Phillips (Laura), Mallory Thompson, Meredith Lusco (Matthew), Mary Claire Primos, Paige McWay (Drew), Frances Phillips & Lamar Phillips; and her 100 year old sister, Wanda Nichols Doolittle. 

She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held onJune 20, 2022 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
