Rebecca Sue Coward Moody

Rebecca Sue Coward Moody (88 y/o) of Canton, MS from Scott County, MS, passed away on Feb 27, 2024 suffering from a variety of health issues, including congestive heart failure. 

Rebecca Sue was born on May 12, 1935 to Jody and Olivia Coward in Scott County, MS. After finishing High School in Columbia MS, she went to Business College and then worked as an accounting assistant and executive secretary with various companies in Jackson MS. On Nov 2, 1956, Rebecca 

Sue married Allen Moody of Columbia, MS. They went on to have 3 children, Miles, Shea, and Kimandria. After raising their children, they enjoyed retirement life in Branson, Missouri for several years, before moving to The Villages, Florida. While in Branson, the couple performed comedy at local events and really enjoyed RV’ing with friends.  

She is predeceased by 3 sisters she adored, Edna Earl, Neiner Pearl, Helen and a few other siblings who did not survive past infancy. 

She is survived by her husband Allen of 67 years along with 3 children, Miles (and Lynne) Moody, Shea (and Robin) Moody, and Kimandria (and Rob) Futral. She has the following nieces and nephews: Charlotte Tate, Becky Smith, Shirley Byrd, Hal Jody Bates, Wanda Kelly, Sime Singley, Julie Pinkston, and the late Mimi Sandt. She was also the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, Brennen and Anneliese Moody, Daniel (and Katie) Moody, Christopher Moody, and Trea, Ridge, and Rivers Futral. 

A memorial service was held March 2, at First Baptist Church Madison, MS.
