Four local teams competing for state basketball championships
Four Madison County basektball teams have surived the postseason gautlet and are now competing for state championships.
The Canton Tigers and Lady Tigers will play tonight for their respective titles.
The Lady Tigers kick off local action tonight at 6 p.m. when they take on Laurel at the Mississippi Coliseum for the 5A crown.
The Lady Tigers, 27-4 on the season, are fresh off a 52-38 semifinal win against Florence. Laurel made it to the finals after beating Pontotoc 53-47.
At 8 p.m. tonight, the Tigers take on Yazoo City after destroying Wayne County 64-44 in the semifinals.
The Ridgeland Titans 24-9), fresh off a throlling 48-42 victory over top-ranked Pascagoula, will compete for the 6A title tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Olive Branch.
At 6 p.m. tomorrow night, the Germantown Lady Mavericks (23-9) look to capture the 7A crown when they take on Tupelo. Germantown defeated St. Martin 50-43 in the semifinals.
