MADISON — The son of a former governor was arrested for trespassing in his own neighborhood here Thursday morning, police said.

Haley Reeves Barbour, Jr., 44, was arrested for trespassing at a residence in a Madison neighborhood at about 10:30 a.m., according to Madison Pollice Capt. Kevin Newman.

Barbour made an initial appearance in Madison Municipal Court Thursday afternoon, where his bond was set at $1,000.

He was transported to the Madison County Detention Center.

Newman confirmed that Barbour lived in the neighborhood where the incident occurred but said that due to concerns related to the victim's privacy, he could not release any further information at this time.

Gov. Haley Reeves Barbour served from 2004 to 2012.
