GLUCKSTADT — City officials approved the purchase of five more police body cameras bringing the total number to 15.

Gluckstadt Police Chief Barry Hale hopes to put the new cameras in service soon.

The cameras are already compatible with bullet-proof vests officers wear and work with the Motorola computer system the city already has.

The cameras will be purchased from Axon Enterprise for $4,794.63 and will be paid for with money from the JAG Fiscal Year 2022 grant.

The cameras were approved in a 5-0 vote at the Jan. 9 city board meeting. Alderman Jayce Powell motioned to accept the bid and Alderwoman Miya Warfield Bates seconded.
