Holmes Ridgeland Campus announces 2023 Homecoming Maids


Holmes Community College recently announced members of the 2023 Homecoming Court.

Ridgeland Campus court members include Student Body Maid Kennedy Manning of Brandon, Sophomore Maid Kamilah Millsap of Madison, Sophomore Maid Presleigh Powers of Carthage, Freshman Maid Addison Chelsey Sawyer of Madison and Freshman Maid Maddison Turner of Byram.

Kennedy Manning, daughter of Samantha and Mark Manning, is a graduate of Park Place Christian Academy. A pre-nursing major, she is active on campus as an Ambassador and member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Upon graduation from Holmes, Manning plans to transfer to the University for Women and earn her nursing degree. After nursing school, she plans to work as a travel nurse. Manning will be escorted by Colin Crosby of Ridgeland.

Kamilah Millsap is the daughter of ​​​​​​​​​​​​Elois and Roger Jacob. A graduate of ​​​​​​​​​​​​​Germantown High School, she is a social work/sociology major. Off campus, she v​​​​​​​​olunteers at Webster’s Animal Shelter and works at Madison Oka Daycare, where she has been employed for two years. She has also volunteered at Placenta Encapsulation, as well. Her plans after Holmes include transferring to Belhaven University, where both her mother and sister attended, to pursue a degree in social work. Millsap will be escorted by Jaderius White of Madison.

Presleigh Powers, daughter of Teresa and Jeff Powers, is a graduate of Pearl High School. She is a psychology major who is involved in numerous activities on campus. In addition to being an Ambassador, Powers is involved in Student Government Association (SGA), STEM Club and Phi Theta Kappa. She is also part of Cornerstone College Group. Upon graduation from Holmes, Powers plans to transfer to Mississippi College, major in psychology and later pursue a career in occupational therapy. She is being escorted by Graham Lambert of Canton.

Addison Sawyer is the daughter of Katresia and Earl Sawyer. A graduate of Germantown High School, she is a pre-medical major. Sawyer is active on campus as a member of Phi Theta Kappa and SGA. She also ​​​​​​​​​​​​helps out at her mother’s daycare, Madison Academy Preschool. Sawyer helps children learn in many different, fun ways and helps out with big event activities like the Pumpkin Patch, May Day, the Carnival Festival, etc. After Holmes, she will transfer to Jackson State University and major in biological sciences. Her goal is to become an ophthalmologist and have her own practice someday. She will be escorted by Aaron Sawyer of Madison.

Maddison Turner, daughter of Alicia and Frederick Turner, is a graduate of Hartfield Academy. She graduated high school with a 4.2 GPA and was a member of Mu Alpha Theta honor society. Turner is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine and she plans to continue her studies in veterinary medicine at Tuskegee or Louisiana State University. She will be escorted by Jaden Gonzalez of Brandon.

The queen and her court will be presented during halftime of the Bulldogs’ Homecoming Game against Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Oct. 26, in Goodman. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
