Barndominum goes up in flames

FLORA — No serious injuries were reported in a barndominium fire off Virlilia Road here Tuesday morning.

According to Ian Bennett of the Flora Fire Department, firefighters responded to assist the Kearney Park Fire Department with the structure fire at about 11:45 a.m.

Bennett said the barndominium, which consisted of shed space and a living area, had burned on the property about five miles east of Flora.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 4 p.m., he said

While the building was likely a total loss, Bennett said only minor injuries were reported.

“I believe a firefighter did suffer minor burns, but no one was taken to the hospital,” Bennett said.

The fire remains under investigation.
